Nutritional Approaches to Dental Issues

My teeth had a rough time during the same years my other chronic health problems worsened. Cavities every year, heat/cold sensitivity, receding gums, bad breath. I was never instructed to do anything besides brush with chemicals, floss with flavored/sweetened floss, and rinse my mouth with drying (sometimes fluoridated) solutions. There was never any mention of lifestyle, general health, diet. It never occurred to me on my own.

Did it ever occur to YOU that your teeth were more than inert structural protuberances? That they might even be intimately connected to your health at large?

As it happens, they are.

I can say this with the certainty of experience and research, but you don’t have to take my word for it. Check out Denise Minger’s awesome guest post on Mark’s Daily Apple for the whole story.

Her book is supposed to be awesome, too. It’s on my list, and I’m linking to it, because there’s not reason you should wait til I’ve read it to read it yourself. Here it is on Amazon: Death By Food Pyramid: How Shoddy Science, Sketchy Politics and Shady Special Interests Ruined Your Health

Her analysis of existing research on diet and health is some of the best I’ve found. Let her ‘splain it to you.

Safety in numbers,
